The Center for High Impact Philanthropy was established in spring 2006 by alumni of The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, who were frustrated by the difficulty of measuring and maximizing the impact of their charitable gifts. Penn is an ideal setting for such a resource center.
The School of Social Policy & Practice, where the Center is housed, is a leader in research and education related to the pursuit of social justice and progress. In addition, Penn is home to renowned programs in areas such as law, medicine, business, nursing, education, science, engineering, and ethics, all of which are important sources of information and expertise for the Center. However, the Center reaches beyond Penn to engage nonprofits/NGOs, philanthropists, foundations, policy and research centers, and universities around the world working towards more effective philanthropy.
