This half hour variety show features 3D animations, music videos, celebrity interviews, video games, shorts and his MTV show characters Sifl and Olly. Lynch has worked in every corner of the entertainment industry. From directing feature films (Sarah Silverman: Jesus is Magic, Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny) and music videos (Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Tenacious D, Liam Lynch, No Doubt) to being a top ten recording artist himself (United States of Whatever). The entire program is made from Lynch's home and all graphics, animation, music and effects are done on his Mac computer. Lynch hosts the show and plays himself as well as a wide variety of side characters. Long time friend and Sifl and Olly partner, Matt Crocco, also adds his character skills to the show. From comic book legend Stan Lee (creator of SPIDER-MAN, X-MEN and THE FANTASTIC FOUR) comes the critically acclaimed reality show, WHO WANTS TO BE A SUPERHERO? Already a runaway success in the USA, the series received its UK premiere exclusively on the SCI FI channel over the May Bank Holiday weekend.
The show is X-FACTOR meets X-MEN, with a motley crew of self-proclaimed superheroes slugging it out for the chance to have their character immortalised in a real-life Stan Lee comic and original SCI FI channel movie. But this is no easy task. Featuring a hilarious, X-FACTOR-style audition process, each contestant begins with an original idea for a superhero, a self-made costume, and their best superhero mojo. From thousands of hopefuls, STAN LEE chooses 11 lucky finalists – including MAJOR VICTORY, FAT MOMMA and MONKEY GIRL - to move into a secret lair together. There they begin their transformations — and the competition to become a real-life superhero.
In each episode, the aspiring hopefuls are faced with a series of challenges that are designed to reveal their true natures. With their mettle tested to the max, the contestants try to overcome their limitations, and do what it takes to prove that they are truly super. How? Well, forget feats of impossible strength… the modern-day saviour needs to display courage, integrity, self-sacrifice, compassion, and resourcefulness!
