Pop culture is unthinkable without them, and so is the Cold War: UFOs, those flying saucers allegedly bringing aliens to dominate the world. The phenomena could usually be explained, but some of the more elusive cases expose some fascinating insights into the secretive actions of the military and intelligence community. Many UFO phenomena were the product of distorted information; but many were also real sightings of secretly developed aircraft. In this film, Pohlmann examines the link between sightings in the U.S. and the Soviet Union, how each superpower played with the other's fear of foreign domination, and how irrational fears were fostered among entire nations in the already explosive climate of the Cold War.
