This podcast is brought to you on behalf of the American Kennel Club and the AKC Canine Health Foundation. Founded in 1995 by the American Kennel Club, the AKC Canine Health Foundation is the largest non-profit funder of exclusively canine research in the world. The foundation works to develop significant resources for basic and applied health programs with emphasis on canine genetics to improve the quality of life for dogs and their owners. The AKC Canine Health Foundation funds research and supports canine health scientists in their efforts to study the causes and origins of canine disease and afflictions in order to formulate effective treatments.
The American Kennel Club, a non-profit organization, maintains the largest registry of pure bred dogs in the world and oversees the sport of purebred dogs in the United States. Founded in 1884, the AKC is dedicated to upholding the integrity of its registry, promoting the sport of purebred dogs, and breeding for type and function. The AKC and its affiliated organizations also advocate for the purebred dog as a family companion, advance canine health and well being, work to protect the rights of all dog owners and promote responsible ownership.
