One of the finest films to emerge from WWII, The True Glory won a special Academy Award in 1945. This incredible documentary chronicles the march of the Allies from D-Day to V-E Day. Created by famed British filmmaker Carol Reed and American director Garson Kanin, The True Glory features extraordinary combat footage culled from tens of thousands of hours of film, and moving first-person accounts from those who were there. These include GI's and Tommies, Canadian soldiers, French partisans and others. This epic film is introduced to you by Allied Supreme Commander General Dwight D. Eisenhower. Breathtaking in scope, The True Glory begins with D-Day Invasion preparations and shows the landings, the capture of Cherbourg and Caen, the Falaise breakout, the race to liberate Paris, the ill-fated Operation Market Garden, the retaking of Antwerp and Brussels, the Battle of the Bulge, the crossing of the Rhine as well as the end game in Berlin.
