Socrates said that talking about virtue and the good life is one of the most important things a human being can do. That's where "Ethics-Talk" fits in. Housed in the Department of Philosophy and Religion at Central Michigan University (CMU), The Center for Professional and Personal Ethics brings you discussions about ethical issues, both pure and applied. For us at EthicsTalk -- "ethics" is broad and encompasses things that affect a human being's flourishing. To that end, students working with the Center discuss ethics-related topics such as academic integrity, intrinsic motivation, procrastination, and cultivating self-regulation and other powerful habits. Additionally, we discuss study and motivational strategies related to intimidating endeavors such as studying for the bar exam. We are also very interested in how technology can either promote or hinder flourishing and discuss "media ecology" issues including the thought of Walter Ong and the concept of "digital virtue". In addition to our student produced show, scholars, authors and practitioners (such as Michael Strong, Anya Kamenetz, Lindsay Hyde, Thomas Farrell, Jeff Wirth and Ginger Campbell) discuss ethics related issues with the Center's Director. To learn more about the Center, visit us at http://ethics.cmich.edu and follow us on twitter at http://www.twitter.com

CBU is a comedic radio play.
"Living in the City of Angels can be very overwhelming, especially at an age where everyone is searching… for the next best thing.
ASHLEY is a 3rd year undergrad student who is a little more than just tired of the superficiality and flakiness of college life. Longing to converse with intelligent banter and ready to give up the apple martinis, Ashley is at a party and if by chance, runs into AUSTIN. Austin is the All-American college boy, whose popularity has made him quite arrogant. Coincidently, like Ashley, he’s become jaded and is now searching for something a bit more meaningful.
If you ask for the truth… would you also be willing to accept it? Be careful, the vernacular cuts like a knife. This is where the chemistry begins…"
Chemicals Between Us
theRubicon is an online journal of opinion that exists to challenge, contradict, confirm and converse. It is an independent, volunteer-driven online magazine put together by Christians who think rigorously and critically about what we do and why we do it. We're contemplative activists and field theologians. We're grateful for our heritage, but aware that the world has changed and that these changes require a rethinking of the faith tradition that has been our legacy.
These audio pieces are part of that engagement. We call our audio presentations Areopagus, which is a place in the Bible where the apostle Paul crossed his own Rubicon by challenging and contradicting people who were thoroughly modern and sated. Before they drove him out, Athenians accused Paul of "bringing some strange ideas to our ears." We do the same thing in the electronic echo chamber of the internet... today's Areopagus.
