Parklawn Assembly of God Church is a fellowship of the Assemblies of God. It is one of Milwaukee, Wisconsin’s largest multiracial congregations, centrally located in Milwaukee’s Sherman Park neighborhood. Although considered a large church by its size (average weekend attendance is 2,000), it is comprised of cell groups (Lighthouses) and small groups (Life Groups). These help our members and friends to stay connected to one another, study, pray and have fun in life together. Parklawn has several ministries including: Children’s (REAL Kids), Youth and Young Adults (Regeneration), Women’s (Women of Virtue) and Men’s (Men of Honor).
The Vision of Parklawn is - (P.R.I.S.M.)
• Prayer (each member, home and the church will be a house of prayer and practice a lifestyle of passionate prayer)
• Reconciliation (each member and the church will model to the greater Body of Christ and world the unity and the diversity that is in God)
• Investing (we will support and train each member in becoming a servant leader)
• Strong Families (valuing life from the womb until the tomb, and supporting families as God designed them)
• Missions (fulfilling the great Commission and sending and supporting missionaries)
The Mission of Parklawn is – Bringing Light to the World (by fulfilling the Great Commission and the Great Commandment).
Our Core Scripture is –”Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:16
Our Core Values are described in the acronym - "Shine It"
Service – Humility – Innovation - No Limits - Excellence
Integrity -Truth
And our Church Membership Process or Strategy is – Begin, Believe, Belong, Become and Be a Witness

BELIEVE (we will help you discover and release your faith in God through His Son, Jesus Christ)
BELONG (we extend open arms to our guests to become friends; and our friends to become family)
BECOME (we offer many Christina education and training opportunities to equip you to serve both in the church, the community and the world)
BE A WITNESS (it each our privilege to share the love of God in practical ways with those we encounter)

Steve marks the passing of Michael Jackson in his own personal way. The last concert of the European leg of Michael Jackson's Bad tour was held at Aintree Racecourse, Liverpool with 125,000 in attendance, the largest attended concert of the entire tour. Steve looks back at this important chapter in British history. "I have always considered Liverpool the home of contemporary pop music", Michael told reporters. "By virtue of it's being the birth place of the incomparable Beatles."

The History of The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, a major literary achievement of the 18th century published in six volumes, was written by the celebrated English historian Edward Gibbon. Volume I was published in 1776, and went through six printings (a remarkable feat for its time). Volumes II and III were published in 1781; volumes IV, V, VI in 1788-89. The original volumes were published as quartos, a common publishing practice of the time. The books cover the period of the Roman Empire after Marcus Aurelius, from just before 180 to 1453 and beyond, concluding in 1590. They take as their material the behaviour and decisions that led to the decay and eventual fall of the Roman Empire in the East and West, offering an explanation for why the Roman Empire fell.Gibbon is sometimes called the first “modern historian of ancient Rome.” By virtue of its mostly objective approach and highly accurate use of reference material, Gibbon’s work was adopted as a model for the methodologies of 19th and 20th century historians. The Politics , by the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle, is one of the most influential texts in political philosophy. In it, Aristotle explores the role that the political community should play in developing the virtue of its citizens. One of his central ideas is that "Man is a political animal," meaning that people can only become virtuous by active participation in the political community. Aristotle also criticizes his teacher Plato, classifies and evaluates six different types of constitutions and political institutions, and describes his vision of the ideal state. Aristotle's views on women and slavery are unenlightened by today's standards, but his work remains enduring and relevant to this day. (Summary by Leon Mire)
