Parklawn Assembly of God Church is a fellowship of the Assemblies of God. It is one of Milwaukee, Wisconsin’s largest multiracial congregations, centrally located in Milwaukee’s Sherman Park neighborhood. Although considered a large church by its size (average weekend attendance is 2,000), it is comprised of cell groups (Lighthouses) and small groups (Life Groups). These help our members and friends to stay connected to one another, study, pray and have fun in life together. Parklawn has several ministries including: Children’s (REAL Kids), Youth and Young Adults (Regeneration), Women’s (Women of Virtue) and Men’s (Men of Honor).
The Vision of Parklawn is - (P.R.I.S.M.)
• Prayer (each member, home and the church will be a house of prayer and practice a lifestyle of passionate prayer)
• Reconciliation (each member and the church will model to the greater Body of Christ and world the unity and the diversity that is in God)
• Investing (we will support and train each member in becoming a servant leader)
• Strong Families (valuing life from the womb until the tomb, and supporting families as God designed them)
• Missions (fulfilling the great Commission and sending and supporting missionaries)
The Mission of Parklawn is – Bringing Light to the World (by fulfilling the Great Commission and the Great Commandment).
Our Core Scripture is –”Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:16
Our Core Values are described in the acronym - "Shine It"
Service – Humility – Innovation - No Limits - Excellence
Integrity -Truth
And our Church Membership Process or Strategy is – Begin, Believe, Belong, Become and Be a Witness
BEGIN (we recognize that each person is on a spiritual journey – we welcome you to walk with us wherever you are in yours)
BELIEVE (we will help you discover and release your faith in God through His Son, Jesus Christ)
BELONG (we extend open arms to our guests to become friends; and our friends to become family)
BECOME (we offer many Christina education and training opportunities to equip you to serve both in the church, the community and the world)
BE A WITNESS (it each our privilege to share the love of God in practical ways with those we encounter)
Parklawn Assembly of God completed a $5 Million building expansion in 2007. In a day & culture where absolute truth seems to be quickly fading away, there is a great need for true men of God to stand in the gap & take seriously the call found in 2 Timothy 1:14 to "Guard, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, the treasure which has been entrusted to you."
As founder of Guarding The Truth ministries, I take that call seriously & with all humility. I pray that you will be enriched by Christ Himself through the audio devotionals, the preaching & the spiritually intense discussions that we'll be sharing here. We invite you to sit down with us, open your Bible & grab a steak knife as we dig into the meat of Scripture & share the undiluted Truth of God's Holy Word. We will also be doing Q&A programs periodically, so whether you're wrestling with tough doctrines or just have general questions about certain passages, please email us & then keep listening to this podcast for those special episodes. May God strengthen you for His good glory!
Guarding The Truth
El Castillo Interior or Las Moradas (trans.:The Interior Castle or The Mansions) was written by Saint Teresa of Ávila in 1577. After being ordered to write her autobiographical La Vida de la Santa Madre Teresa de Jesús (The Life of S. Teresa of Jesus), Teresa was hesitant to begin writing again on her views of the perfection found in internal prayer. In the hands of the Inquisition at that time, her Life was commonly believed to be the weight in the scale of whether to call her experiences heretical or not. Her humility and claims that, “I am not meant for writing; I have neither the health nor the wits for it,” almost prevented Teresa from composing The Interior Castle. However, according to a letter written by Fray Diego, one of Teresa’s former confessors, Teresa was finally convinced to write her book after a she received a vision from God. Diego wrote that God revealed to Teresa,
"...a most beautiful crystal globe, made in the shape of a castle, and containing seven mansions, in the seventh and innermost of which was the King of Glory, in the greatest splendour, illumining and beautifying them all. The nearer one got to the centre, the stronger was the light; outside the palace limits everything was foul, dark and infested with toads, vipers and other venomous creatures."[1]
With that, Interior Castle was born. It contained the basis for what she felt should be the ideal journey of faith, comparing the contemplative soul to a castle with seven successive interior courts, or chambers, analogous to the seven heavens. Teresa's consumption of chivalric romances as a child subsequently influenced such imagery, which is prevalent in many of her mystical works.[2] It is also not unduly speculative that living in a walled city like Ávila must have influenced her thinking. The concept of an "interior" life is still important in Spanish thinking in the twenty-first century.
An English translation was published in London in 1852.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ gives us the boldness to be who we are as artists and accountants, teachers and therapists. Knowing we are created in His image, we are then able to freely live and work as an expression of His beauty. Also, the Gospel gives us the humility to serve. In the midst of the successes and failures of life, we know that we are loved more than we ever dreamed. We are humbled by the penetrating immensity of God?s mercy and grace. It is with an understanding of this mercy that we then desire to live as conduits of mercy and grace to our city.
All Souls Fellowship: Sermons
A book on the all importance of humility, how Jesus was humble, and how we also can become humble. Murray wrote "Without humility, there can be no true abiding in God's presence or experience of His favor and the power of His spirit. Without it there can be no abiding faith or love or joy or strength." Summary by ekaitz

Relevant topics explored with in depth Bible study. As the Saturday night worship gathering of BranchCreek Church in Harleysville PA, Encounter is designed to help people "go and meet with God." We do this by focusing our attention on Jesus Christ, who, as we understand it, came to reveal God to us. Specifically, we gather to worship Jesus with passion and humility, and to learn from him as we dig into his Word, the Bible.

Consolation of Philosophy (Latin: Consolatio Philosophiae) is a philosophical work by Boethius written in about the year 524 AD. It has been described as the single most important and influential work in the West in medieval and early Renaissance Christianity, and is also the last great work that can be called Classical. - Consolation of Philosophy was written during Boethius' one year imprisonment while awaiting trial, and eventual horrific execution, for the crime of treason by Ostrogothic King Theodoric the Great. Boethius was at the very heights of power in Rome and was brought down by treachery. It was from this experience he was inspired to write a philosophical book from prison reflecting on how a lord's favor could change so quickly and why friends would turn against him. It has been described as “by far the most interesting example of prison literature the world has ever seen.” - The Consolation of Philosophy stands, by its note of fatalism and its affinities with the Christian doctrine of humility, midway between the heathen philosophy of Seneca the Younger and the later Christian philosophy of consolation represented by Thomas Aquinas. - The book is heavily influenced by Plato and his dialogues (as was Boethius himself).
